Paige Lawrence:Basic Belly Dance Class and Launch Party

I met Mr. Paige Lawrence at Tribal Fest 10 in Heather Shoopman’s workshop.

During the workshop Heather asked us to pair up with someone and we had to mirror on another’s dance moves. Wouldn’t you know it? I was standing closest to Paige. I hadn’t met him before and had  never seen him perform.

I went first. Doing some extreme, beginner fusion move, (because that’s all I know) and Paige mirrors me. Then it is his turn. He does something simple and I mirror him. He is sweet, soft spoken with a great smile.

We complete the exercise with a few more moves. Paige is very easy to follow. And I get out of there with my dignity in tact. Because later on I see Paige perform on stage an KNOW beyond a shadow of a doubt that he was holding back A LOT!

Thanks Paige!

Well, here he is. Paige is now teaching a Basic Belly dance Class in Oakland California. The studio is called Danspace and Paige will be teaching weekly on Tuesday, from 8:00pm-9:30pm. First class starts on Tuesday,January 17, 2012 followed by a “Launch Party”

You can find more information on facebook: Basic Belly Dance w/Paige Lawrence

Ava Fleming:Beginners Guide to Bellydance:Oriental & Tribal Fusion V2

First, let me state that I do not have the Beginners Guide to Bellydance: Oriental & Tribal Fusion V2 cd as yet. As of today, November 16, 2011 it is “out of stock” from amazon.com.

Does this mean that it has already been sold out? I don’t know.  If so then those of us who do not own a copy just moved too slow and too bad for us. Maybe a fellow dancer will let you hear it or worse, you’ll hear it while someone is dancing/performing to a song that you yourself would have loved to dance to.  Oh well.

I will have to be on the lookout for where I can purchase a copy. I’ll post it when I do. In the meantime, take a look at what the beautiful, Ava Fleming had to say about putting the music together for part of the 3 cd set. Yeah, I know Ava is not a Tribal Fusion belly dancer. She considers herself more as a Cabaret Fusion dancer.  The fusion part can be Tribal at some point, right? Anyway……She is here on TDN and I had a wonderful time visiting with her in her gorgeous studio, Silk Road Studios.

For those of you who actually have the Beginners Guide to Bellydance: Oriental & Tribal Fusion V2 please share a comment with us and let us how much you enjoy the cd and what you’ll be dancing to.

Thanks for stopping by. Enjoy !

Blume Bauer of MECDA & Cairo Caravan at Tribal Fest 11

It was such a pleasure speaking with Blume Bauer at Tribal Fest 11. We sat on a deck above where all the Tribal Fest shopping was going on.(You’ll note the sounds laughter going on in the background) The weather was nice, a bee buzzed around. And Miss Blume was a joy !

Blume is president of MECDA , Middle Eastern Culture & Dance Association.  During our interview she tells us a bit about MECDA itself and how she became involved. Blume also talks about Cairo Caravan 2011. Performances, workshops, instructors, and how you can get involved. Next year, as I am posting this rather late. On the positive side, you now have plenty of time to prepare for Cairo Caravan next year. Oh yes, and if you’re a dancer and not already a member of MECDA, it’s time for you to join.

Enjoy!
